Çatalca
Çatalca is a unique natural water basin that has supplied Istanbul with water and food since the Ancient Roman era, serving as one of the city’s most vital natural life sources.
In 373 AD, to meet Istanbul’s growing water demand, the Roman Empire constructed a large-scale water transportation system along the Çatalca–Istranca line. The structure seen in the background represents the remains of the approximately 1,600-year-old Kurşunlugerme Aqueduct, which carried Çatalca’s natural spring water to Istanbul for centuries.
In the 17th century, the famous traveler Evliya Çelebi described Çatalca as “a town filled with vineyards, gardens, and life-giving waters,” highlighting the region’s water richness with the expression “life-giving waters flow from 70 different springs.”
Today, Çatalca stands out as one of the closest natural escapes to Istanbul for those seeking a peaceful, healthy, and nature-oriented lifestyle. Despite its proximity to the city, it offers a unique environment with its tranquility, fertile lands, clean air, and abundant natural water resources.
We continue to deliver this clean and high-quality drinking water sourced from Çatalca’s natural springs to Istanbul using modern production technologies. By preserving this deep-rooted water heritage, we provide safe, reliable, and premium-quality drinking water.
